Rina, in partnership with Hassan Allam Construction and its subsidiary Kortech, has been awarded the contract for the system integration and system engineering of the Hafeet Rail project. This project comprises a 303 km line for passenger rail transport and rail freight transport connecting Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and the port of Sohar in Oman. Trains will travel at speeds of over 200 km/h, reducing the travel time between Abu Dhabi and Sohar to 100 minutes. The project will also enable the transport of 15,000 t of cargo per trip. Rina is responsible for integrating the various railway subsystems, including signalling, telecommunications, and operating technologies. In addition, the company will supervise the implementation of the signalling system based on the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2.
