Ridgewood Infrastructure has acquired a majority stake in California-based short-haul railway Sierra Railroad and its subsidiary Railpower. Brookfield Infrastructure Credit provided debt financing for the transaction. The Sierra Group includes the operating subsidiary Sierra Northern Railway, which provides rail freight transport, as well as shunting, storage and transhipment services on approximately 200 km of track, using network connections to the US Class I rail companies Union Pacific and BNSF. At the same time as Ridgewood's entry, Sierra is also acquiring Central Valley Ag Transport, an operator of transhipment facilities for agricultural products.
