The Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has delivered the first tunnel segments for the H53 Pfons – Brenner construction section of the Brenner Base Tunnel. As the segments from the manufacturer Max Bögl in Sengenthal, Bavaria, are not being produced on site like on other construction sections due to a lack of space, a total of 54,000 parts are to be transported from Sengenthal in Germany to the construction site via rail freight transport, according to the BBT project company. From September 2024, two tunnel boring machines (TBM) will each excavate around 7.5 km of tube in a northerly direction.
