In the Indian federal state of Bihar, the preliminary studies for the extension of the metro network in Gaya, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur have been completed. The Urban Development and Housing Department has received detailed feasibility reports from Rites, the agency responsible for the studies. A 36 km metro line with 28 stations will be constructed in Gaya, an 18.8 km line with 18 stations in Darbhanga, a 21.25 km line in Muzaffarpur, and a 24 km line in Bhagalpur. With the completion of the preliminary studies, the Bihar government will review the feasibility reports and expedite the planning and approval processes for the metro lines in each city.
