Czech infrastructure operator SZ has started preliminary geological investigations for the planned 30 km long Ore Mountains tunnel on the high-speed rail (HSR) line Prague – Dresden. The work will initially take place between Chabařovice and the German border in order to test the rock and groundwater conditions and determine the tunnelling method. The plan is to drill 16 boreholes at depths of 25 to 485 m, starting in February 2025 and continuing in the autumn. The investigations will be carried out in several cadastral areas and will provide important data for the realisation of the project.
