Infrastructure operator PKP PLK has signed a contract with Austrian construction company Porr to modernise the line between Wagrowiec Golancz and the border of the Greater Poland voivodeship. The investment amounts to just under €46.7 million (PLN 200 million). The aim is to establish the line as an alternative connection between Poznań and Bydgoszcz. New tracks will be laid and the foundations reinforced on the 27 km section. Work is scheduled to begin in late June or early July 2025 and be completed by the end of 2026. It will be financed by the European Union. The line, which has not been used since 2004, will be open to passenger trains at speeds of 120 km/h and freight trains at 80 km/h. Modern control technology and the conversion of 13 level crossings will increase safety. Six stations and stops will be modernised, including a new stop in Wagrowiec.
