On 11th September 2024, the ground-breaking ceremony took place for a new plant of railway equipment supplier Plasser & Theurer at the Pummererstrasse site in the Linz industrial area. With estimated construction costs of more than €60 million, it is the company's largest single investment in Austria to date. The funds come entirely from the private resources of the owner family. Both final assembly and putting into operation of the track-laying machines will take place in the new hall, which covers an area of around 12,000 m². There are plans for 15 spaces for final machine assembly, each with an area of 255 m². Three tracks, each 91 m long, and one track 56 m long are planned for putting into operation processes. The hall is scheduled to be completed in July 2026, go into full operation at the beginning of 2027 and provide 180 jobs, 80 of which will be newly created. The new building will also bring production capacities that are currently separated closer together.
