Plasser & Theurer integrates PJ Messtechnik's (PJM) digital monitoring package, consisting of automatic brake testing, brake monitoring and axle bearing temperature monitoring in real time, into multi-part railway construction machines. These functions complement Datamatic and tmOS and are designed to increase the safety, efficiency and availability of the heavily used machines between construction sites. An axle bearing generator provides the self-sufficient power supply. The brake monitoring system records status and operating error data, wear and tear and the remaining service life of the brakes, as well as triggers real-time warnings to the train driver when critical values are reached. In addition, the axle bearing temperature is monitored. In the future, Plasser & Theurer and PJM are planning to integrate the subsystems more deeply into the P&T digital platform and offer the derailment diagnosis (IDDS) equipment option for selected construction machines.
