PKP PLK awards contract for revitalisation of Kartuzy – Lębork line

Polish infrastructure operator PKP PLK has signed a contract with construction company Torpol for the revitalisation of the 60 km section between Kartuzy, SIerakowitz, Linia and Lębork on railway line No. 229. The work, with a net contract value of over EUR 119 million (PLN 508 million), includes the construction of three new stations, the reconstruction and renovation of bridges and viaducts, the modernisation of 38 level crossings and the installation of new signalling systems. The project is scheduled for completion by 2028 and will restore passenger rail transport between the Kashubian communities at speeds of up to 120 km/h. The line also provides an alternative rail link to the planned Lubiatowo-Kopalino nuclear power plant.
