On 17th February 2026, Polish state railway PKP signed a cooperation declaration with German state railway DB and French state railway SNCF to strengthen safety and quality in European passenger rail and rail freight transport. The partners agreed to expand cooperation to improve cross-border rail connections between Poland, Germany, and France and to support the EU Action Plan for high-speed rail (HSR) transport. The declaration also includes demands addressed at the European Commission (EC), such as simplifying rules on military mobility, standardised infrastructure requirements for strategic corridors, as well as stable investment financing. The signatories further emphasise the need for the continued expansion of the TEN-T network, increased capacity, improved infrastructure quality, and greater availability of modern rolling stock. They also call for the continuation of the CEF funding programme, coupled with increased funding in future EU financial frameworks.
