On 1st February 2025, Raphael Pfaff took over as head of the Institute for Rolling Stock (IFS) at Rhine-Westphalia Technical University (RWTH) in Aachen. Over the next six months, Pfaff will lead the institute together with Christian Schindler as a dual professorship. Pfaff will continue the IFS's research priorities in the areas of vehicle and chassis strategies, wheel-rail interaction, and driving automation, and expand them to include topics such as forecast and health management, as well as the circular economy.
