The Greek Parliament has approved a comprehensive railway reform bill introduced by Minister Kyranakis. The reform includes the introduction of the digital platform Railway.gov.gr for the collection of transport data, video surveillance of sensitive areas, central line monitoring and medical and psychological monitoring of staff. In addition, more frequent checks, a strengthening of the RAS supervisory authority and the EDOSAAM accident investigation agency, more flexible structures at the infrastructure operator OSE, more private investment as well as stricter disciplinary rules will be introduced. Emergency plans are also to be drawn up. The reform goes beyond some of the requirements of the European Railway Agency (ERA). The implementation of the monitoring measures could lead to conflicts with the trade unions.
