At the end of November 2025, the 98 km high-speed rail (HSR) line between Panzhou and Xingyi in Guizhou Province was opened. The line, which can be travelled at speeds of up to 250 km/h, connects Xingyi and its Wanfenglin Airport to the national network via the Shanghai – Kunming HSR line and reduces the travel time to Guiyang from around four hours to almost two hours. Construction began in December 2018 and track laying in December 2024. An approved southern extension to Baise will connect to the Xingyong – Chenggan HSR line. Other HSR projects are also progressing in parallel. Test runs are underway on the 299.8 km Xi'an – Yan'an HSR line. On the Beijing – Tangshan HSR line, testing has begun on the Beijing – Yanjiao section, while the Yanjiao – Tangshan section has been in operation since December 2022. The Baotou – Huinong section of the Baotou – Yinchuan HSR line has passed inspection and is about to begin trial operations. In Anhui Province, track construction began on 20th November 2025 on the 61.4 km Chaohu – Ma'anshan HSR line. The project volume amounts to EUR 3.1 billion (CNY 25.6 billion) and start of operation is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
