Japanese electronics company OKI and Turkish state railway TCDD have signed a memorandum of understanding to test OKI's Zero Energy IoT Series sensors. These sensors, which do not require an external power supply or data lines, are used for remote monitoring of railway infrastructure such as bridges. They provide data on water levels, object inclination and vibration frequencies using ultrasound, accelerometers and high-resolution cameras. Power is supplied by solar cells or integrated rechargeable batteries. Satellite images and other methods are also used to identify the risk of natural disasters. The trial run will continue until March 2026.
