The Austrian infrastructure manager ÖBB-Infrastruktur is modernising the 18 km section between Feldkirch in Austria and Buchs in Switzerland. The maintenance and modernisation work, worth €100 million, is to be completed by 2026. The single-track section from Austria via Liechtenstein to Switzerland plays an important role in cross-border passenger rail transport between Vienna and Zurich and in rail freight transport.
