Norway plans to invest €1 billion in rail infrastructure by 2025

In its draft budget for 2025, the Norwegian government plans to increase investment in the operation, maintenance, and renewal of the national rail network to around €1.03 billion (NOK 12.1 billion). This represents an increase of €247.3 million over the previous budget. This includes €26 million for preparatory work for the construction of the new railway line between Arna and Standhelle by the infrastructure manager Bane NOR. In addition, Bane NOR intends to use the funds to plan a railway tunnel for long-distance passenger rail transport under Oslo, to double the line Råde – Fredrikstad and to electrify the line Stjørdal – Steinkjer.
