NÖVOG receives superstructure wagon from Plasser & Theurer for Mariazellerbahn line

Lower Austrian transport organisation company NÖVOG has received the first of two track-laying vehicles designed for the Mariazellerbahn, a superstructure wagon, which is now being prepared in St. Pölten for its line approval. The two vehicles, which cost a total of €7.2 million, are intended to help modernise the 115-year-old single-track line and thus ensure the quality and availability of public transport in the Pielach Valley. The vehicles were custom-built by Plasser & Theurer to meet the requirements of NÖVOG. The second wagon, a motorised tower wagon, is expected to be delivered in 2025. Once approved, the superstructure wagon will be used for maintenance work, lifting and loading activities, green cuttings, and snow clearance. The motorised tower wagon will be used for the installation and maintenance of the overhead line.
