MIQ to review TramGO LRT project in Gatineau

On 17th February 2026, the Canadian province of Quebec awarded Mobilité Infra Québec (MIQ) a contract to review the TramGO light rail transit (LRT) project. The subject of the review is the planning of a 24 km Y-shaped LRT line that will connect the western and central districts of Gatineau in Quebec with the Canadian capital Ottawa in Ontario. MIQ now has nine months to update existing studies and propose project adjustments to optimise costs. According to MIQ, the analysis will be carried out in collaboration with the city of Gatineau and the Société de Transport de l'Outaouais. However, according to the city of Gatineau, there are concerns that the province could reduce funding for the project and use previously promised funds elsewhere.
