Ministry of Transport provides around €2.5 billion for modernisation of lines and stations in 2025

The Czech Ministry of Transport has announced that a total of around €2.5 billion (CZK 62.7 billion) will be available for line and station modernisation projects in 2025. This represents an increase of €39.5 million compared to 2024. Of this budget, €1.55 billion will be used for priority projects, including the modernisation of the Ceská Trebová junction and the construction of the first sections of the high-speed rail (HSR) line between Brno and Prerov, which is scheduled to go into operation in 2025. A further €760 million has been earmarked for the maintenance and repair of tracks in 2025. The most important projects in 2025 include the repair of the Tanvald – Korenov rack railway line and the modernisation of the Olbramovice – Sedlcany line as well as the switches at the Príbram and Ceská Kamenice stations. The bridge over the Jihlava River between the Jihlava and Jihlava mesto railway stations is also due for renovation. Czech infrastructure manager SZ is currently in the process of renovating more than 30 railway station buildings, and work is scheduled to begin at more than 20 other locations in 2025.
