Metrorex presents 2021-2030 investment programme

Metrorex, the operator of Bucharest's metro network, has presented the investment projects for the period 2021-2030 and plans to build 94 km of new lines and 90 stations. By 2030, five new lines with a length of 76.5 km are to be built and four existing lines are to be extended by a total of more than 17 km. One of the largest projects currently under construction is line 6, which will connect the Henri Coanda International Airport. The total cost of the 14.2 km line with 12 stations is €1.86 billion (RON 9.3 billion). For the construction of the second, 5.4 km section of line 5, Metrorex has completed the technical planning documentation and the tender documents for the awarding of the works. The construction of line 4 includes 11.9 km of line and 13 stations for an estimated €2.86 billion. In October 2024, Metrorex selected three bidders for the Gara de Nord – Gara Progresul project.
