Metro network expanded by over 217 km since June 2024

Since June 2024, over 217 km of new metro lines have been opened in China, including extensions of existing lines. Among others, line 1 in Changsha was extended by 9.9 km from Kaifu District Government to Jinpenqiu. In Chengdu, the new 38.7 km long metro line S3 was opened. In Foshan, two extensions of Line 3 from Zhen'an to Zhongshan Park and from Lianhe to Foshan University were opened, totalling 22.2 km. In Ningbo, Line 5 was extended by 8.6 km from Xingzhuang Road to Luotuo Bridge. In Suzhou, the new 35 km long Line 6 was opened, connecting Suzhou Xinqu station with Sangtiandao. This was followed by the opening of the 35.5 km long line 8 between Xijinqiao and Chefang. In Tianjin, line 1 was extended from Donggulu to Shuangqiaohe and line 5 between Liqizhuangnan, Jinghuadongdao, and Tuanboyixueyuan. In Wuhan, line 7 was extended by 15.1 km from Hengdian to Huangpi Square. In Xi'an, the new 34.4 km long line 10 was opened, connecting Jingshangcun with Zhaohuiguangchang. At the same time, line 5 was extended by 3.4 km from Matengkong to Yanminghu and line 6 by 4.5 km from Xi'an International Medical Centre to Xi'an South station.
