At the end of September 2025, new metro sections and extensions were put into operation in several Chinese cities. In Shenzhen, the second construction phases of lines 6, approximately 5 km in length with three stations, and 16, approximately 9.6 km long with eight stations, went into operation on 28th September 2025, bringing the network to 609 km and 428 stations. In Xuzhou, the 22.9 km line 6 with 16 stations was opened. On 28th September, Tianjin put into operation the 21.8 km southern extension of line 7 with 15 stations. Changchun opened the 10.6 km eastern extension of line 2 with six stations, bringing the metro network to 151.4 km. In Guangzhou, several new urban and intercity lines were opened on 29th September 2025, including the 59.7 km East Ring, the 18.2 km Pazhou-Lianhuashan line, and extensions to line 13 with a length of 8.3 km and four stations, as well as to line 14 with a length of 11.9 km and eight stations. The Guangzhou metro network now covers 768.4 km and is the third longest in the world.
