Maintenance of HSR corridor Madrid-East to be tendered

The maintenance of part of the Madrid-East high-speed rail (HSR) corridor can now be put out to tender, after the Spanish Council of Ministers authorised the Ministry of Transport (Mitma) to do so via the railway infrastructure operator Adif. The contract, with an estimated value of €65.1 million and a term of four years, can be extended by a further year. The work on several sections of the Madrid – Valencia line, the Albacete – Alicante terminal branch, and the Los Bancales Yeles (track 2) branch is to be carried out from the maintenance bases in Villarrubia de Santiago (Toledo) and Gabaldón (Cuenca). The contract includes the maintenance, preventive and corrective maintenance of superstructure elements, infrastructure, individual elements, and maintenance centres. Investments to increase the value of the facilities are also planned.
