The city of Madrid has announced that it will invest €29.5 million in improving metro line 7B between San Fernando and Barrio del Puerto stations. This line has been out of service since 27th July 2024 due to signalling work. The works have been authorised with an emergency contract and an execution period of seven months. They include sealing and ground stabilisation work, repairs to the superstructure, and drainage of the tunnel. In addition, the City of Madrid will invest €6.7 million in services to ensure the quality and safety of 40 metro trains ordered from manufacturer CAF. The consultancy service will be provided during all phases of the project, including on-site participation in the testing of materials, equipment, and systems, as well as the inspection of the entire train. It will also act as an assessment body and independently confirm that the train fulfils all quality and safety requirements.
