The Karnataka state government has announced a 41 km extension of the metro network in Bengaluru in its 2026/27 budget. According to the budget announcement, up to 1.5 million passengers per day are expected to use the service. To speed up implementation, the state has allocated over EUR 187 million (INR 20 billion) for Namma Metro projects in phases 2 and 3. In addition, the 2026 Union budget earmarks EUR 2.7 billion for metro projects in India. No specific timetable has been given for the start of operation for the additional 41 km.
