Portuguese infrastructure operator IP has put the section between Oiã and Soure of the high-speed rail (HSR) line between Lisbon and Porto out to tender. The contract is to be awarded in the form of a public-private partnership (PPP). The contract includes the construction of 71 km of track, the adaptation of Coimbra station to the HSR line and the quadruple-track expansion of the Linha do Norte line between Taveiro and the southern entrance to Coimbra station. The contract is valued at €1.6 billion. The contract, which has a total term of 30 years, covers the approximately five-year construction period and the period for the provision of the infrastructure, which is expected to last 25 years. The construction will be funded by the EU's CEF programme. Bids must be submitted by 6th January 2025. The first section between Porto and Oiã was put out to tender in January 2024.
