On 24th May 2025, Croatian infrastructure operator HZ Infrastruktura will launch a €190 million project to modernise 86.5 km of railway line in the north of the country. The project is being financed by a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB). Swietelsky was awarded the contract for the modernisation of the 11.8 km line R201 Varazdin – Cakovec and the 74.7 km line R202 Klostar – Koprivnica – Varazdin. The modernisation of eight stations and seven stops as well as comprehensive track renewal are planned. Modern machines such as the PM 1000 URM and the SMD 80 will be used to ensure efficient implementation. Completion is scheduled for summer 2028.
