The city of Baghdad has awarded a contract for project management and supervision services for the metro project worth €16 billion (US$17.5 billion) to a joint venture between Malaysian company HSS Engineering and its partner Consultant HSS registered in the UAE. The contract includes design review, overseeing the pre-qualification phase of the procurement process, reviewing survey activities, reviewing project performance specifications, conducting schedule reviews, and providing supervision services. The project management consultancy element of the contract is 0.6% of the total construction cost and the construction management element is 1.2%. Completion of the metro network is scheduled for May 2029.
