HSR network expanded with new connections to Hong Kong

Chinese state railway CR launched new high-speed rail (HSR) services on 5th January 2025 to better connect Hong Kong with the mainland. The Suzhou – Hong Kong line was opened and the HSR network now covers 47,000 km. In 2024, 3,000 km of new lines were put into operation, with further investments for 2025. By 2030, the network is expected to reach 180,000 km. Passenger rail transport increased by 10.8% to 4.08 billion passengers in 2024.
