The Luxembourg Ministry of Mobility and Public Works is planning to establish Howald as an important transport hub in the country once the major project is completed. The new multimodal hub connects public and active transport and is currently being remodelled by Luxembourg's state railway CFL. A 600 t crane was recently used to install 80 t steel beams above the tracks. The work, which resumed in December 2023, is preparing the second track of the light rail transit (LRT) network, the completion of which will be taken over by Luxtram by summer 2025. The double-track LRT network will go into operation in spring 2026.
