Gurgaon to expand metro network

The Indian city of Gurgaon is planning to build two new metro lines and expand an existing line. The Haryana Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (HMRTC) has put out a call for tenders for detailed project reports. A 17 km line from the Gurgaon railway station to Bhondsi will connect to the existing metro line and the planned express train corridor via several junctions such as Vatika Chowk and Rajiv Chowk. The second 13.6 km line from Golf Course Extension Road to Sector 5 is intended to connect residential areas with office districts. In addition, a 28.5 km extension of the existing metro line from Cyber City to the Millennium City Centre with 27 elevated stations is planned. Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd (GMRL), a special-purpose vehicle established by the Indian federal state of Haryana to implement the project, invited tenders for the construction of the first phase in mid-March 2025. The construction of 15.2 km of elevated railway line and 15 stations, worth around €134 million (INR 12.9 billion), is scheduled to begin in May 2025.
