On 22nd October 2024, the Guangzhou Metro Group and Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a long-term strategic partnership. The aim is to promote the development of rail transport technology, operations, and maintenance efficiency in both cities. In the discussions between the two companies, cooperation intentions were defined in areas such as tunnel structure inspection and track updates as well as marketing. The aim is to strengthen the cooperation and exchanges in areas such as metro station energy management, metro tunnel monitoring, rail facility upgrades, and management of the entire rail transport life cycle based on safety, reliability, and intelligence.
