The Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) has awarded the contract for the Gatineau – Ottawa light rail transit (LRT) project to the Groupe Porteur consortium. This comprises Systra Canada, Egis, and EXP. The contract, worth around €76 million (CA$114 million), includes professional, technical and multidisciplinary services. The project includes a 24 km LRT line connecting Gatineau in Quebec to the capital city of Ottawa in the province of Ontario and improving regional mobility. Groupe Porteur will conduct technical and environmental studies, oversee procurement processes and manage construction and tests for the start of operations. The line will include 37 stations and four multimodal hubs, with 22 km in Quebec and 2 km in Ontario. Opening is planned for 2035. The technical and environmental studies for the Quebec section will begin in spring 2025.
