Government supports projects with National Trade Corridors Fund

On 12th February 2025, the Canadian government announced funding from the National Trade Corridors Fund (NTCF) for several railway projects. The Jaleslie Siding Extension project of Canadian National (CN) to improve rail freight transport and passenger rail transport between Kamloops and Vancouver will be supported with €6.7 million (CAD 10 million). The NSD Inland Port project in Terrace, which involves the development of a transshipment facility for intermodal transport, will receive €4.1 million. In Alberta, €3.8 million will be invested in the modernisation of the Battle River Railway, and Richardson International will receive €3.35 million for the expansion of the North Shore Railyard. Quasar Platform's project to digitalise the rail freight transport supply chain is being funded with €2.35 million for the development of a real-time platform for monitoring freight wagons. The Ridley North Off-Dock and Transloading Expansion project by IntermodeX Logistics is receiving €1.8 million for the construction of a container and transloading facility in the Port of Prince Rupert.
