As part of the High Frequency Rail (HFR) project, the Canadian federal government wants to continue with the construction of a high-speed rail (HSR) line between Toronto and Quebec City. The preferred partner for the contract, which was put out to tender in October 2023, is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. According to reports, the government favours an electrified railway infrastructure that supports speeds of up to 300 km/h. The consortia Cadence, Intercity Rail Developers, and QConnexiON Rail Partners have already been pre-selected for the contract.
