The Indian Cabinet's Economic Committee has approved two rail freight transport projects with a total length of 318 km in the federal states of Jharkhand, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The projects, which will cost a total of €712 million, include the double-track expansion of the Koderma – Barkakana line in Jharkhand as well as the Ballari – Chikjajur line in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The expanded infrastructure will be able to transport an additional 49 million t of freight per year. The implementation will take place within the framework of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, which aims to achieve multimodal and integrated connectivity.
