Together with Project Biro Utiber and Utiber Közúti Beruházó, FS Engineering has been awarded a contract for the spatial development plan, feasibility study and preliminary plan for the modernisation of a railway line in Serbia extending from Ruma via Sabac to Donja Borina on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. This roughly 110 km single-track, non-electrified line serves both passenger and freight transport and comprises 12 stations, 4 junctions, 17 bridges and 4 tunnels. The client is the Serbian Ministry of Construction, acting through its Project Implementation Unit (PIU), while the beneficiary is infrastructure operator IZS. Funding is provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and French development agency AFD. This planning package constitutes phase 1 of the programme and concerns a cross-border connection of strategic importance between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, forming part of the extended TEN-T core network corridor 9A. The contract entails the preparation of the technical and planning documentation required for the renewal and expansion of the line.
