Electrification of Ujar – Hajigabul line completed

Azerbaijani state railway ADY has completed the electrification of the 122 km section between Ujar and Hajigabul on the Baku – Boyuk Kasik line with 25 kV 50 Hz AC. In addition to the electrification, a multi-process management (MPM) system has been introduced, which enables simultaneous control of signalling, communication and control processes, thus allowing shorter train intervals. This measure is part of an overall project to electrify 502 km between Baku and Boyuk Kasik, which is scheduled for completion by 2027. The line is part of the BTK corridor, which runs from Baku in Azerbaijan via Tbilisi in Georgia to Kars in Turkey. Since its modernisation, the corridor can handle rail freight transport capacities of up to 5 million t.
