Czech infrastructure operator SZ and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed an agreement to prepare a public-private partnership (PPP) project for the Brno – Prerov high-speed rail (HSR) line. The EBRD will provide technical assistance in preparing the documentation, tender documents and selection process. The project comprises three construction phases between Brno and Nezamyslice. The planned line speed is 200 km/h. The concessionaire will design, implement and finance the construction projects and operate them for 25 years. The Czech Republic will pay the concessionaire an availability payment for as long as operational readiness is guaranteed. Two further sections between Nezamyslice and Prerov will be financed conventionally. The EBRD will select additional experts to provide advice in the areas of finance, law, technology and the environment. The selection process for consulting services will begin in April/May 2025, and for the concessionaire in early 2026.
