The German Centre for Rail Transport Research DZSF and the Japanese Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI) signed a cooperation agreement in Tokyo on 18th July 2025 to deepen technical railway research. The aim is to share research infrastructure and exchange scientific knowledge on topics such as climate adaptation, extreme weather resilience, predictive maintenance, nature conservation and species protection, decarbonisation and automation. Mutual visits and regular dialogue are part of the cooperation. DZSF has been part of the German Federal Ministry of Transport BMV since 2019 and focuses on application-oriented research.
