DTVS develops autonomous switches

DT - Výhybkárna a strojírna (DTVS) has launched a three-year research project in the Czech Republic to develop an autonomous railway switch. Together with the Technical University of Brno and the University of Pardubice, the company aims to create a system that uses sensors to detect vibrations and intelligent software to identify wear and defects. This is supposed to enable predictive maintenance and be applicable to both conventional and high-speed rail (HSR) lines. The project is funded by the Czech Technology Agency and has a budget of €830,000 (CZK 20 million). The focus is on the optimal placement of sensors on the moving parts of the switches and their installation on the Czech railway network.
