The Swedish transport authority Trafikverket has decided to expand the Ostkustbanan railway line between Uppsala and Stockholm to quadruple-track. After site investigations and consultations with the relevant municipalities, it was decided to upgrade the 23 km line to the Stockholm County border. The expansion includes the construction of additional tracks and new stations in Bergsbrunna and Alsike and is intended to increase capacity and reliability on the busy line. The detailed railway plan is currently being drawn up, which will define protective measures and land requirements.
