DB InfraGO deploys AI-based scheduling assistant ADA-PMB

DB InfraGO has rolled out the AI-supported dispatching support system ADA-PMB on four corridor regions with dense train services. These regions include the Frankfurt/Main area, the Munich – Lindau and Stuttgart – Plochingen railway lines, as well as railway lines in North Rhine-Westphalia. The system combines mathematical optimisation, heuristics and machine learning and generates recommendations every minute to support dispatchers in resolving conflicts and optimising train operations. ADA-PMB remains advisory, the final decision and safety check remain the responsibility of the dispatcher or service controller. Critical infrastructure data such as line closures and maintenance work are continuously incorporated. The German Federal Network Agency BNetzA is legally responsible for checking the neutrality of the tool with regard to all rail transport operating companies. By the end of 2027, ADA-PMB is to be seamlessly integrated into dispatching workstations and communication with train dispatchers digitalised, eliminating the need for manual telephone calls. Expansion to other regions is planned for 2027.
