Serbian infrastructure operator IZS has started the first phase of construction work on the Sobovica-Luznice – Batocina line, which will connect the Siemens plant in the Sobovica-Luznice industrial park near Kragujevcu. Following approval by the review commission of the Ministry of Construction, preparatory work for the first 5 km section began on 24th June 2024. The project comprises a 15.7 km section and an 890 m industrial track. The line will not only be used for rail freight transport, but also for passenger rail transport. The new connection will link the industrial park to the pan-European railway corridor X of the trans-European transport network TEN-T.
