Construction works of the 130 km Koralmbahn railway line between Graz and Klagenfurt were completed at the end of November 2024 after 26 years of construction. Passenger rail transport is scheduled to start in December 2025. Before the start of operations, line tests of around 15,000 km and speeds of up to 250 km/h will be carried out. At the same time, construction work is underway on the new Weststeiermark station, which is scheduled for completion in spring 2025. The western section of the Koralmbahn line between Klagenfurt, St. Paul im Lavanttal, and Wolfsberg was put into operation in December 2023.
