Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu has announced the construction of the 34 km line between Siirt and Kurtalan, which is prioritised in the 2025 investment programme. The plans include the construction of six tunnels with a total length of 15.5 km, 12 emergency tunnels with a length of 12 km, two viaducts with a length of 597 m and several overpasses and underpasses. The line will be used for both passenger rail transport and rail freight transport. It will serve as an extension of the existing Yolçatı – Diyarbakır – Kurtalan line, which is being modernised to enable higher speeds.
