Construction work on the Murcia – Lorca – Almería high-speed rail (HSR) line is 65% complete. The 200 km line, which is estimated to cost €3.5 billion, will connect Almería to the Spanish HSL network and extend the Mediterranean corridor, which currently stretches from the French border via Barcelona and Valencia to Murcia. All sections of the track bed have been completed or are under construction and the first electrification work has begun. Work is also underway on laying the tracks, building an assembly base in Librilla, and implementing the signalling and communication systems for the HSR line.
