The high-speed rail (HSR) line between Naples and Bari, a project of Italian infrastructure operator RFI and the Association for the Development of Industry in the South (SVIMEZ), is expected to generate economic benefits of €4.4 billion and 62,000 jobs. This is according to a study published in the SVIMEZ Report 2024. The line is part of an investment programme that includes the creation of a double-track line between Naples and Foggia, allowing speeds of 200-250 km/h, which will significantly reduce travel times. In addition, the project is expected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by about 141,000 t, which is equivalent to the emissions from 638,000 lorries travelling the Naples – Bari line.
