Czech infrastructure manager SZ has awarded a contract to a consortium for design works on a section of a high-speed rail (HSR) line in Central Bohemia between Porícany and Svetlá nad Sázavou. The section is part of the VRT Strední Cechy HSR line between Prague and Brno. The consortium consists of Sudop Praha, Egis Rail and Mott MacDonald. The contract includes the preparation of the documents for the planning approval decision and the documents for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure. The almost 80 km section connects to the already planned VRT Polabí line from Prague to Porícany, which is also part of the new HSR line from the capital to Brno. According to the timetable for the works, the construction permit is to be granted in 2025, while the construction itself is to start about two years later. The travel time between Prague and Brno will be reduced to one hour after completion of the entire line.
