China is considering investing €58.2 billion (US$60 billion) in Turkey's railway infrastructure to increase capacity for Eurasian transport and strengthen the Middle Corridor. The investments will include electrification, new domestic lines, a bridge in Istanbul and a high-speed rail (HSR) line between Ankara and Istanbul. Chinese rolling stock manufacturer CRRC already operates an assembly plant for driverless metros in Turkey.
